Impact Teams

Impact Teams are self-organized neighborhood teams composed of Host Neighbors and Endorsing Partners that address neighborhood issues and concerns. We are currently focusing on four areas: Public Safety, Housing, Education and Healthcare.

Public Safety

The Seeds of Promise public safety program aims to increase activities in the neighborhood that contribute to the overall safety and wellness of the community. These activities include training on personal safety, crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) training/information, Neighborhood Watch, Drug Watch, National Night Out events, and assistance with other issues related to public safety (crime, illegal dumping, housing complaints, etc.).

Housing

We have three housing programs available to all residents in Grand Rapids and surrounding areas. These grant programs are funded through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis and a partnership with Northpointe Bank. The funding is typically released in the Spring, with applications taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once the funding is exhausted, the program ends for the year.

Education

Our Education Team looks to improve student, and family learning capabilities and educational attainment levels. To conduct evening after-school programs, including kids’ games and scouting activities. And to strengthen and encourage family support system, and education attainment achievements.

Health + Wellness

Our Health & Wellness Team looks to improve the physical and mental health and wellness of our residents through provision of community input and assistance to endorsing partners who seek to achieve aims that align with our vision. Independently or in concert with endorsing partners, SOP host neighbors enact programs and services that are designed to enhance residents’ total wellbeing.
