The past year has been full of challenges, of which we have all had the opportunity to learn and grow. Here at Seeds of Promise, we have undergone several changes in leadership and programming. While they have taken some time to overcome, we welcome the New Year with open arms and look forward to serving the community.
At Seeds of Promise, we strive to produce resident-led solutions to address housing, safety, health, and education issues in the Southtown-Madison Square neighborhood. For this to happen successfully, we are working to re-engage our Host Neighborhood Leadership Council residents. We are asking residents that are passionate about making a difference in the community to join the council. What is a Host Neighbor? Host Neighbors are residents dedicated to solving neighborhood problems through training in self-governance and project management. They are leaders for their community and are considered experts and a point of contact for their surrounding areas. For more information, please contact Tori, the Outreach Coordinator, at vkeenan@seedsofpromisegr.com or call the office at 616710-5730.
We are also kicking off our Neighborhood Improvement Project orientations for the 2021 grant year. Through our Serve, Share & Improve program, qualifying residents could receive up to $7,500 for home repair needs. To find out if you qualify, please contact Seeds of Promise at 616710-5730. In this program, participants will attend two orientations and join the Host Neighbor Leadership Council and one Impact Team. By engaging in Seeds of Promise, residents will not only get an opportunity to receive improvements on their homes, but they will also get the opportunity to improve their community. Dates for orientation have yet to be determined, but there will be virtual options for attendance.
We are so excited to continue these programs in the New Year, and we look forward to meeting new neighbors! Together we can overcome the challenges facing our community.
